Biographical Sketch

Dr. Song’s research interest is mainly in pervasive sensing, computing, networking and security and their applications in health, energy and environment monitoring. He has a continuous tracking record of leading large multidisciplinary research with the grant support from NSF, NASA, USGS, DOE, USDA, NIH, DOD and industry, and his research was featured in MIT Technology Review, Network World, Scientific America, New Scientist, National Geographic, etc. Dr. Song received numerous awards and recognitions including NSF CAREER Award, Outstanding Research Contribution Award, Chancellor Research Excellence Award, IEEE Mark Weiser Best Paper Award. He serves many premium conferences and journals as General Chair, TPC member and Associate Editor. Dr. Song is the founding director of the Center for Cyber-Physical Systems at UGA, holds the Georgia Power Endowed Professorship in Engineering and courtesy appointment in UGA computer science and statistics.

The University of Georgia, founded in 1785, is a flagship university in USA. It is ranked for 13th overall among all public national universities and 46th among all national universities in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
Motto

  • Optimism: If I think something is hard, likely the way I think makes it hard!
  • Passion: Take daily activity as lifetime interest, because that is the life!
  • Collaboration: If I can achieve a dream alone, likely this dream is too small!
Research Interests

  • Theory: Sensor Signal Processing and Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Computing and Networking
